Axelrad celebrates Houston, being outside, and relaxing.
Housed in the premises of a former grocery store built by the Axelrad family in the early 1920s. Like our predecessors, we seek to carry on the tradition of being an open and welcoming place for all.
Our expansive garden hosts a variety of video art, film screenings, live music, events, festivals, and more.
Outdoor and indoor spaces are suitable for large and small gatherings. Bike and car parking is located on site and surrounding, and METRORail’s Red Line Ensemble Station is a few blocks away.

There is plenty of free parking all around, but we'd love you more if you arrive by any other way :) 5% discount to anyone who bikes, walks, uses public transit, or arrives via basically anything except a personal car!
Bike racks are next to Luigi's and if you forget a lock, just ask us! The Ensemble/HCC station is a few blocks west. A bus stop is on the corner of Almeda and Alabama.
INFORMATION FOR EVENT GOERS:
We encourage ride sharing, as parking for large events tend be limited. The lot across the street from our front door as well as the one catty corner are paid lots. Free parking is in the lot shared by Luigi's Pizza and Retrospect Coffee. There is also street parking at your own risk.
Please remove all valuables from your vehicle and make sure your vehicle is locked and secured. While we will have security in the parking lot, we cannot guarantee the safety of any vehicle.
Unfortunately, HCC gives parking tickets to any non-students that park in its lot just north of Axelrad. Concerts are usually 21+ only. You must show a valid physical ID at the door to enter - NO EXCEPTIONS! If you do not have a valid physical ID you will not be permitted inside the venue, no refunds will be given. No Outside Beverages. Outside beverages of any kind will be confiscated and destroyed.
